Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain.

This book is both an enjoyable read, and life changing. For me it has been about accepting that I am an introvert (not so life changing) and realising that there is nothing wrong with me (a real aha moment). This book highlights how our culture places value on ‘things extroverts like’ and ‘how extroverts like to do things’. Even the way schools and work places are set up favours the extrovert.

Since reading this book I’ve stopped trying to keep up with my extrovert family. I’ve enjoyed pottering about at home all day. Heaven!

I wouldn’t call this book a self help book. I’d more put it in the popular science category – with a combination of anecdotes and scientific findings. An enjoyable holiday read (for me anyway!).
