I just finished reading the latest Flavia de Luce book: Speaking Among the Bones, by Alan Bradley.
I am a huge fan of the series. These books are set in England in the 1950’s. Post war. Flavia lives in a grand old house in the country. She is such a brilliant character. A complete ratbag. So brave. The burning question in every book is: ‘Will someone be kind to Flavia?’ The murders are kind of beside the point.
I can’t wait for the next book – The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches. Such a cliff hanger at the end of Speaking Among the Bones! The next book is due 2014. Bugger.
In the mean time, Alan Bradley recommends Louise Penny, calling her “the godmother of the Flavia books”. Must check her out.
