The writer of one my favourite blogs now has a book out: Barking up the Wrong Tree: The Surprising Science Behind Why Everything You Know About Success Is (Mostly) Wrong.
I can’t wait for it to arrive.
In the meantime, one my favourite posts is this one, about 5 good questions to ask yourself:
- Is this useful?
- Does the world owe me this?
- Must I have this to be happy?
- Is this who I want to be?
- Have I ever felt that way? (When dealing with a problem person, in order to develop compassion, you really need to start by being open to your own difficulties).
This is me right now. I’m stuck in bed with a post-operative infection.
What has been helping me is listening to Pema Chodron audiobooks and meditating (using Headspace).

Oh, and the antibiotics.
