I read this quote today in the paper and it really resonated with my recent experience of undergoing a scary surgery.
I was so scared. Just stressed and frightened. Just focused on the fear.
Then – after listening to Pema Chodron – I decided to sit with my fear rather than run away from it.
I realised what I was scared of losing was my husband and child.
I started instead to think about how much joy they bring me.
I found that focusing on the joy helped to lessen my fear.
